High school students in Denmark have new rules for their exams. The government wants to stop students from using artificial intelligence, or AI, to cheat on their schoolwork.
Now, students must speak to their teachers about the work they write at home. They need to explain their ideas out loud. This is called an oral defence. It helps teachers know that the students wrote the work themselves.
In classrooms, schools will also check computer screens during written tests. They will use internet filters to stop students from looking at unapproved websites. Schools also want students to write more work inside the classroom.
The Education Minister, Magnus Heunicke, said that action was needed now. He wants young people to learn how to think for themselves. AI can write essays very quickly, but students must understand what they are learning.
Teachers, students, and schools will work together to follow these new rules. Denmark hopes these steps will make learning fair and help everyone study well.
